Nayib Bukele, El Salvador’s president, was given a hero’s welcome Thursday while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Committee’s annual conference.

The charismatic 42-year-old, who just defied his country’s constitution this month to win a second term, markets himself as “the world’s coolest dictator.”

He sounded like an enthusiastic surrogate for Donald Trump’s bid to retake the White House, without even mentioning Trump by name.

But Bukele is more than that.
